Ryo Nishikido was born and raised in Osaka on November 3, 1984. He joined Johnny's Jimusho on September 6, 1997. Nishikido is an actor and singer in both NEWS and Kanjani8. He had his major debut in both NEWS and Kanjani8 in 2004.

In 2006 Nishikido Ryo also held a solo concert which sold out quickly. He also actively appears in dramas, such as his most famous role of Asou Haruto in 1 Litre of Tears and also in the special episode of 1 Litre of Tears which was aired in 2007, and Nakahara Shota in ATTENTION PLEASE and the “contradictory” Oikawa Sosuke in Last Friends.

Traffic accident
On March 1, 2009 the singer caused a minor traffic accident on the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway, according to police. Nishikido Ryo was driving his car on the highway through the city when he crashed into another car on the Roppongi ramp. That car then ran into the one in front. A 60-year-old woman in the middle car suffered minor injuries to her neck and is expected to be in the hospital for a week. Nishikido later visited her to offer his apologies. A Johnny's spokesperson said Nishikido had been vigorously reproached and offered to give up driving for the expected future
